Overview:
Orange County Fire Authority Fire Stations No. 32 and 53 are two of only three stations which serve Yorba Linda, which serves a population of approximately 68,336 residents. Our challenge was to concurrently renovate two fire stations for the city of Yorba Linda while still maintaining their ability to respond to emergencies.
Both Fire Station 32 and 53 had similar scope and main goal of providing new dorm and restroom facilities to the in house firefighters, while also bringing the building up to current ADA accessibility standards.
To successfully complete the concurrent building renovations, NCI developed a detailed schedule, that staggered the trades starting between the two buildings and maintaining that workflow throughout the whole project.
We installed safety barriers, surface protection and dust-controls prior to selective demolition. And we maintained protections and kept the site in broom-clean condition throughout the duration of the project.
Scope Included: Demo, Framing, drywall, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, acoustic ceiling, data and communications, fire suppression, fire alarm, services were installed, coordinated with critical IT and
The offices and living quarters were reconfigured to meet T24 Green Building Standards and ADA Accessibility requirements in the interior. NCI also brought the exterior building access to ADA compliance as well. This was completed by demoing existing access and installing new compliant access and reconfiguring the parking area to provide appropriate handicapped parking.
NCI created 4 new individual dorm rooms in the newly renovated facility and created two new restrooms within the footprint of the old barracks style dorm room.
